Turnaround Leaders

Firstly, these are the ‘heavy lifters’ who make change happen quickly and decisively, working to a strategy that typically has already been agreed.

Secondly, they include ‘Chief Restructuring Officers’ who are brought in to support the stakeholders as early as possible to ask the difficult questions, handle stakeholder issues, determine the best outcome for the business and then lead the turnaround team using the best available talent in the business.

They also assume the Chairman and/or Non Executive role as appropriate, especially once the core turnaround project has largely been completed.

Sometimes the project is one dimensional (e.g. to resolve onerous leases or to dispose of a division) or a simple ‘Quick Fix’; others can be very complex, multi-disciplinary and can last for several months or more.

Functional Specialists

As often as not a stakeholder identifies that a business in difficulty requires perhaps only one or two changes in a management team – often the Finance Director whose forecasts and cash management skills are unsatisfactory. Or perhaps it is decided that the top line needs attention from a sales focused CEO.

PILOTpartners identifies a shortlist of suitable candidates, usually within 24 hours, who can start immediately and become an intrinsic part of the management team – possibly an interim executive with the potential to become permanent or just to complete the core tasks for a few months and then leave when they are completed.

Turnaround Panel Management

As well as resourcing senior level executives as above PILOTpartners has for many years been privileged to manage specialist interim turnaround executive panels on behalf of major accountancy firms.
